FAQ’s

Why would I need to select a Pharmacy?

The GP Service is offered by a number of independent pharmacies, allowing you to collect or have treatments delivered from a local nominated pharmacy or collected from a pharmacy selected at checkout or whilst setting up an account. Please note: additional charges may apply for delivery.

How do I know when my order is ready for collection?

Your nominated pharmacy will email and text when treatment is ready for collection. If you have selected a delivery option, you will receive email confirmation including delivery information.

How do I pay for my treatment?

We accept payments online via credit and debit card, and will pre-authorise your card.

If a doctor feels you are not suitable for a treatment, no charge will be applied to your card and you will be notified by email.

How long will it take for the Doctor to review my treatment for Questionnaire-based consultations?

Our doctors aim to assess all questionnaires within a maximum of one working day. As the service develops, time will reduce with reviews undertaken within an hour. Upon approval, we take care of informing the nominated pharmacy with authorised prescription.

What if the selected pharmacy does not have my medication?

All pharmacies signed up with The GP Service are UK registered pharmacies and usually receive out of stock items within 24 hours, but usually within a few hours. Most general medications are in stock by the majority of pharmacies.

What if the pharmacy cannot locate my prescription?

Our highly trained team are in continuous contact with pharmacies and ensure each order is managed, however, if you have any issues, please contact us immediately.

Can I cancel my order once it has been approved by the doctor?

Processing starts immediately with form-based consultations. Assessments are delivered instantaneously to a doctor, who assess suitability for a certain treatment.

Accordingly, you agree that we will have commenced the service at your request; you further agree, that if you cancel an order for a form-based consultation, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee based on any reasonable costs that we have, by then, already incurred. If the doctor has issued the prescription a full charge is applied. If the doctor has not reviewed it, an admin charge of up to 50% of the original order is applicable.

You may not cancel the order, and shall not be entitled to any refund, once your request for a prescription, included in your order for a form-based consultation has been approved, or a doctor, following a form-based consultation, issues you with a prescription.

What if I have medical exemption card and don’t pay for my medication?

The GP Service is a private medical service and is not part of the NHS. You are required to pay for this service if you wish to use our services.

What if I am under 18 or want to order for my child?

At present, The GP Service is unable to accept orders from anyone under the age of 18 and our doctors are not allowed to prescribe on behalf of another person.

Can I place my order over the telephone?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Our NHS-accredited doctors have compiled a number of questions required to be completed for a selected treatment. Without completion of this form, we are unable to assist you. This is to ensure that we have collected all information required for our doctors to be fully informed to assist patients.

Is this service available outside the UK?

At present, The GP Service is a UK-based service and can only deliver to confirmed UK addresses. Our pharmacy members are all UK registered.

Do I need a prescription for treatment?

The GP Service offers a service which requires a prescription for all treatments. Our GMC-registered doctors review each patient to understand suitability for treatments before issuing a prescription. Once completed, prescriptions are sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy.

I cannot find the treatment that I am looking for, what do I do?

The GP Service only offers the treatments listed on the website and is intended for non-emergency conditions only. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

If the product cannot be found, it is most likely our doctors cannot prescribe it. In this instance, we recommend contacting your local GP for alternative options.

Does the GP Service offer a repeat prescription?

For selected treatments, these may be available with repeat prescriptions. However, these will be shown in your patient record and need to be approved by the doctor with further consultations.

Can I have more than one account with the same email address?

No, each account requires a different email ID, so only the registered person is contactable. When using our services, you undertake to not have more than one account, and agree to Terms and Conditions.

How do I know if the medication is genuine and safe to order online?

Firstly, it must be noted that all pharmacy members belonging to The GP Service, are verified and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHc), holding their own pharmacy registration numbers. It means you can be assured that all products you receive from us, come from genuine registered pharmacies.

Is my patient record linked to my NHS medical record?

We at the GP Service have no access to any of your previous medical records. We do recommend that details or your consultation are shared with your GP, however, you have the option to opt out of this during registration.

What if I want to close my account?

We can fully deactivate your account, however please note by law, the notes from your previous consultation are required to be stored by us. For further information or to request account closure, please email support@theGPService.co.uk

Is my information shared with my GP?

The GP Service will share your information with your GP unless you specifically select to opt out during registration.

After I have collected or had treatment collected, can I return it?

UK law does not allow the return of medications. However, if your order arrives or when you collect, it appears to have been tampered or damaged, please contact your nominated pharmacy.

What if I already have a private prescription?

Unfortunately, our service is based on doctors reviewing your condition before issuing a prescription to your nominated pharmacy. If you already hold a private prescription, please contact your local pharmacy for further information.
